- Activities
Climate protection has experienced far-reaching social acceptance over the past few years. This is reflected in the extensive legislation in this area. Greenhouse gas emissions trading has given this issue a special salience and significance for industry.
Since 2005, a number of installations requiring licenses in accordance with immission control legislation have been subject to the requirements of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Act. The number of installations subject to emissions trading is continually expanding, while the allocation of no-cost emission allowances is falling or stagnating. This places a considerable economic strain on energy-intensive sectors of the economy.
Industrial enterprises must have not only allocation applications and emission reports, but also other data verified by independent experts or environmental verifiers and transmitted to the German Emissions Trading Authority at the Federal Environment Agency. Since the beginning of the 1st trading period, we have had authorized experts in accordance with section 36 of the German Industrial Code for such inspection and verification assignments for virtually all installations subject to emissions trading.
